Cedar Point. Roller Coaster capital of the WORLD!

Jason was bound and determined to get to the park for our one hour early entry to get on a bunch of rides before the general population. So we got up, and with bleary eyes, caught the shuttle across the parking lot. Approximately 200 yards away. In our defense, it was already really hot and we were really tired. As you might imagine, this particular recipe was not going to bake up the perfect day. Especially since I had inexplicably woken up at 6:15 am eastern time and by our 9 am start was ready for a nap.

Once inside, my mood did not improve. Apparently only select rides were open, but we had no idea which rides they were and they were not marked on our map or any signage. As a result, and due to Marc's height restriction, went on one ride in the extra one hour. I think we all would have benefited from an additional hour of rest. You live and learn. Except, sometimes I feel like we do a little more living and not so much learning.

The first coaster we went on was the biggest and craziest of our day. It was both spectacularly scary and fun. Since it was hot and Tuesday, the longest ride we stood in was 10 minutes. Which was good because I was not about to stand in a two hour line at 90+ degrees.

Lucas looked like he was being forced to endure harsh punishment every time we stood in line. Not because of the wait, because he was so nervous. Then, immediately after each ride, even though he never opened his eyes, he was in a state of pure exhilaration, grinning from ear to ear.

Marcus, of course loved ALL of the rides and would have gone on all of the most intense coasters had he been tall enough. I'm a way, he and Luke are complete opposites right now. Lucas does not want to do anything out of his comfort zone or new, while Marcus wants to do all of the things all of the time. Unfortunately, they both define the word stubborn.

Samus had a good time too and was up for almost everything. Much to everyone's dismay, he crashed about noon and began overheating. We were literally about to go back to the camper to cool down and eat lunch when he turned white as a ghost and said his head was hurting. By the time we got him back to the camper he was a hurting unit. We covered him in cool towels forced liquids on him and he took a nap. A couple hours later he said he felt like a million bucks and we ventured back to the park where we vowed to stay hydrated and cool. Too bad it was the hottest part of the day.

We rode several more coasters and ducked into an air conditioned candle making shop and paid $8 to make some candles in the air conditioning.

We only had two more coasters to ride before we went back for supper. At the first coaster we met two kids who struck up a conversation with us. The boy was a seventh grader and his sister was a second grader. They were so sweet and we ended up walking to the next coaster with them. The little girl kept grabbing my hand on the walk, melting me into a puddle. Once on the platform, she asked her brother if she could ride with me. The ride was quick and when we disembarked Samus looked like he was going to puke. We said goodbye to our new friends and took off for the longest walk back to the camper. The poor kid was over heated again.

Needless to say we did not go back on any more rides. Why we didn't wait out the daytime heat and go back in the evening is beyond me. I think it's the living and not learning thing.
