Today was a short drive, getting us
closer to Glacier National Park, so that we didn't have to pull
another eight hour day so soon. Particularly since a 10 hour day
follows our time in Glacier.
We made it to Helena about 1 p.m. and
promptly pulled into a Walmart. Our very first stop in a Walmart
parking lot with the trailer. Not as exciting as you might think. But
there was a Burger King in the parking lot, we were starving, and we
needed a grocery restock.
We scarfed our food and headed into
Walmart. The children started melting down almost immediately. So it
was like most trips to Walmart except we were in a different city.
You know, grit teeth talking, arm squeezing, outlandish threats.
Super fun!
At last we were headed for our
campsite.
We pulled in, unhooked, and ran down to
the swimming area right behind our camper. The water was cool, but
very clear. Soon swimsuits and life jackets (I've never swam
somewhere with a steeper drop off) were on and we were swimming in
water that was 66 degrees. I know the temperature because I took the
thermometer out of the frig and submerged it in the lake. It was
about 70 degrees out and a storm (surprise, surprise) rolled in as we
were drying off. We have not had one day with out rain at one time or
another. We also get sun everyday, so we make the most of our time
then.
The rest of the evening involved Jason
running into town to do laundry and pick up Qdoba while the boys and
I watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks and the rain. Then we had a fire
with Smore's and snuggled in for some Narnia. Pretty nice little
Monday.
