Sunday.

Day 3
A lazy day, just bumming around.

Jason got to start his day doing his favorite thing in the world-chatting with strangers. Our neighbors car needed a jump, and they were making small talk like my dad in a grocery store line, sharing their life story and getting the low down on our whole trip. It was fun for Lucas and me to eaves drop on and we giggled and giggled inside the safety of the camper playing our sudoku.

Speaking of sudoku, apparently I have sparked Marcus and Lucas’ interest and the three of us are plugging away, puzzle after puzzle. In fact, I bought them each their own Penny Press book of easy puzzles for my convenience from a lovely little book store in Estes Park, Macdonald Book Shop, Inc. I love stumbling into small book shops on our travels. They feel so inviting and always have the best books. Plus, the Munschs love reading almost as much as they like to buy books. We have an entire cabinet in the camper devoted to our “library.”

We also walked downtown Estes Park and saw no less than 4 of the “BEST” taffy shops in the universe.

In the afternoon, Marcus “needed” to go miniature golfing. The rest of us felt as though our lives could go on with the golf, but, in the spirit of not crushing every dream Marcus has, we went anyway. And I am SO glad we did! It was a traditional 1960’s mini golf course (Tiny Town Miniature Golf) and brought me back to my childhood playing putt putt behind the Dairy Queen in Aberdeen. I was literally filled with glee, that occasionally burst forth in shrill giggles and odd noises as we played. There is an alligator hole, windmill hole, bridge hole, anthill hole, a funnel hole, and so much more! Also, it was hysterical to watch the boys struggle to hit the ball “just right.” They tended to drive the ball as opposed to putt. Samus was the king of smashing golf balls off the wall and back down to try again.

After golfing, we headed back into a rainy Rocky Mountain National Park where Jason whipped up some delicious chicken tacos. However, we were not adequately savoring the love he had cooked into his taco meat, and he was boiling over with hanger. Subsequently, Samus and Lucas were ordered outside until they finished their meals (it was no longer raining). While it may seem a little over the top, it was perfectly reasonable at that precise moment in time. They finished their tacos and were allowed to return. They were further rewarded with doing the dishes.

Finally, after a little campfire time, we all retired at 9 pm. We slept like dead horses.

My stats:
Running total of Marcus’ new found friends-4
Teeth lost-1 (Lucas)
Boy fights-3ish
Diagonal street crossings-1
Body aches-dozens (apparently all mine)
