On the road again.

Day 0
On the road again.

We had our first update from Jason as we headed out down N Oak Rd: we’ve been in the car 14 seconds!

He tracks our time spent in the car, our miles driven, and some other things... gallons of gas? I’m not sure. Speaking of gallons of gas, at one point he announced we were getting 4 miles per gallon.

Anyway, I declared that I am determined to be happy the entire trip (Jason said we should keep our expectations more realistic).  Also, I have promised that I will not check our routes with my phone. This has been a bone of contention in the past with our phones showing vastly different routes and me navigating over his pre-routed navigation. So far so good.

This afternoon and evening was filled with books, travel games, the license plate game, variety puzzles, and movies.

Additionally, Lucas is keeping a journal of all the songs he likes on the radio so he can add them to his amazon playlist. He is also quite the back seat driver alerting Jason to his speed and keeping an eye on the navigation.

Right on pace, Samus plowed through a book before we left South Dakota and has started his second.

Marcus. Well I’m not really sure what Marcus does. Stare out the window? He did make a rubberband bracelet, but that was before we left Brandon.

At any rate, tonight we are staying in one of Nebraska’s national forests. Yes. There is more than one. I know. I didn’t know there were any forests in Nebraska either. We should pull in a little after 11. Then we wake up early tomorrow morning and drive to Rocky Mountain National Park where Jason has all the hikes planned.

It doesn’t quite seem real that we are doing this right now. The trip I mean. But we are.

My stats:
Boy fights=1
$ spent on gas station food=Too Much.
Bathroom breaks=2
Hanger episodes=1 (2 people involved, unrelated to fight)

  1. Happy traveling Jason. I am not much of a travel enthusiast but looking forward to see the world through your experience and blog.
