Acadia National Park Pictures

Here are are pictures from Acadia National Park. It was nice to get some more rustic camping in after spending the last few stops in the city. We needed to decompress and everyone was a little bit on edge and grumpy this stop. We stayed at the Seawall campground in Acadia which was a big campground but not many spots were taken so it was pretty quiet. The first day we went sea kayaking with the Maine State Sea Kayak company. That was great but as always with our sea fairing ventures I didn't get any pictures of that part of the trip. Trust me it was awesome and if you're in the area I'd highly suggest it.  Kayaking was fairly easy as they had the wind pushing us along, a little wavy at times but was part of the fun. We saw seals and being out on that small of a craft was very cool. Anyway here are the pictures I did capture of our trip. Beehive trail was also very fun but there was a lot of worry and complaining that maybe we shouldn't be on the trail since Lucas is very afraid of heights (they had quite a few warnings) and we weren't billy goats.  It was fine and everyone had fun at the end.

It's been a while since we had a campfire. They had neat brick fire pits at the Seawall Campground
Roads were terrible on mount desert island. The camper was tore apart on the inside (drawer font off of drawer and laying on the floor and cabinet doors busted apart at the seems) and stuff was everywhere. We spent the first hour literally putting the camper back together.

Start of the Beehive trail, started pretty easy
Got a little harder with some rock scrambling

Then got a little scarier with some drop offs
And finally putting it all together but at least there were metal rungs to assist with the ascent

Reached the summit
And enjoyed the views

On the way down Sam did his best koala impression

Rebecca on Sandy Beach. The beach and Beehive trail share the same parking lot so we just walked down after our hike to check out one of Maine's rare sandy beaches.
It was great we could sit and watch the Ocean forever

At Thunder hole, this is the real walkway that was closed because it was too dangerous.
So everyone there just fanned out to the rocks on either side which I'm sure were much safer

View from Cadillac mountain, we didn't make it up to see the sunrise there but still great views

Video of us on the Beehive trail

A little taste of Sandy Beach
