Dinosaur National Monument Pictures

Our next stop was Dinosaur, we stayed at the Green River campground in Utah.  We went from the cool mountain air  to a hot and dusty desert.  They were having a heat wave the days we were there so I guess it was hotter than normal.  Once the sun went down it got nice and cool so sleeping wasn't a problem at least.  The first day we had our white water rafting day trip planned.  It was easily the highlight of this stop.  We didn't get any picture but trust me it was amazing floating through the canyon.  There were 4 named rapids and delivered some pretty intense white water.  We even got hung up on a rock and had to high side where we had to all get to the high end of the boat to help get it off the rock.  The kids like to yell out randomly "High Side!" now.

The next day we did some sight seeing and checked out the visitor center and quarry where they have a wall of dinosaur bones uncovered and left in place to look at.  Then we went on the auto tour and saw some petroglyphs and took in the sights.  Then since it was murder hot out we had to find a place to swim.  The green river is flowing to fast to swim so Becky looked and found a state park just north of Vernal that listed swimming as an activity.  We drove to it and the attendant mentioned that the beaches were muddy but we could swim next to the boat ramp they have some picnic tables down there.  She asked if we wanted to look first before paying to enter the park (which was a bit worrisome) but we had to get in some water and quick so it didn't matter.  We payed and went down to the boat ramp, they had a little island dock we could swim to and jump off of and it was great.  It reminded us a bit of Lake Mead but wasn't that bad.  The sand/mud mixture was interesting and made either a milk shake like or ooblek like substance depending on the amount of water.  The lake cooled us off and was a good last stop for this leg of the trip.

Marcus had a scooter accident shortly after we pulled in

There was a Airstream convention or something we were one of only a handful of campers that weren't Airstreams
